SOLTIS 86 ® by Serge Ferrari

Soltis® mesh fabric is a Polyester mesh material with exceptional dimensional stability and excellent long term strength and UV durability.  Being a mesh it's perfect for the UK environment as it allows water through - so it won't puddle, has less windage, and is thus less harsh on the Shades fixings. It is ideal for just about any application that needs high tensile strength and breathability. Soltis 86® is probably the most practical fabric for Shade Sails in the UK, where unpredictable and varied weather mean these will often have to cope with less than ideal conditions!  Soltis 86® is Lightweight, Durable and 100% recyclable.

Available in 5 colours, Soltis® fabric is mildew and rot resistant, colourfast, and very easy to clean and dry quickly. It provides 88+% shade factor and weighsper sq. yard (380g per sq m).  Sunsure® has been FR tested to B1/din 4102-1, BS 7837, BS5867, Class 1/uni9177-87 M1/UNE23.727-90, NFPA701.  Euro Class B-s2,d0/EN 13501-1.

Sunsure®

Sunsure® mesh fabric is a PVC vinyl encapsulated tight polyester mesh material that allows very little light through but does allow water through - so it won't puddle, has less windage, and is less hard on your fixings. Again, being a stron mesh is ideal for just about any application that needs high tensile strength and breathability.

Available in 11 colours, Sunsure® fabric is mildew and rot resistant, colourfast, and very easy to clean and dry quickly. It provides 88-95% shade factor and weighs in at 14.5 US oz per sq. yard (343g per sq m).  Sunsure® has been FR tested to the American CA117E standard.

Reinforced (Fire Retardant) Matt Finish PVC

We offer a range of 12 colours in the High Quality (FR) Matt PVC.

This 580g per sq m PVC is a waterproof fabric and is extremely practical in that it is very easy to clean, is UV stable (i.e. very resistant to fading) and has been FR tested to BS5867 Part 2 Type A when tested by BS5438 Test 2.

So, the PVC is an option that is ideally suited to long periods of outdoor exposure, where a 'water resistant' shelter is required. (However, it MUST be positioned and tensioned for water to easily run-off, with a minimum angle of 20 degrees).

WeatherMAX 80 ® (Non FR)

This is a breathable woven Polyester fabric made with Solution Dyed Saturamax® which is very durable, highly UV resistant and colourfast, and is thus ideally suited to long periods of outdoor exposure. This fabric is most frequently seen in continental style outdoor shades and marine cover applications.

With a range of  colours, Weathermax 80 has excellent UV stability. It is 271 g per sq m dry weight and is finished with exclusive HydroMax technology; resistant to water, dirt mildew, and weather to extreme temperatures.

Weathermax 80 is water resistant (so it MUST be positioned and tensioned for water to run-off, with a minimum angle of  AT LEAST  20 degrees gradient (i.e. a 36cm fall in height, over a metre distance).  A very practical and tactile fabric choice, with a great colour range available.

Yacht Sailcloth

Genuine Polyester woven Sailcloth is very durable and used and tested in Ocean conditions in yacht sails - this is a material we have great deal of experience with. It is hard wearing and water resistant (so it MUST be positioned and tensioned for water to run-off, with a minimum angle of 20 degrees).

However, it is not UV stabilised and therefore permanent exposure to UV will dramatically shorten it's useable lifespan. For the ultimate contemporary 'Marine' feel this is a great option, but it won't last quite as long when left outside.

Colours: Sailcloth Shade Sails are only available in White.

Other options

We are able to supply fabrics for indoor use, however you must ensure that any Shade Sails placed indoors meet the statutory Building regulations and Fire Officers' requirements for 'Fire Retardancy'.  Both the Sunsure® and Matt PVC fabrics are tested for FR, however, we are also able to source a number of other suitable FR fabrics for such purposes upon demand.  Please note there is usually an additional cost.  Accordingly, please contact us for details and availablity.
